Liverpool Ends Interest In Van Dijk After Doing Things Illegally

Yesterday it came to light that Southampton were set to contact the Premier League and accuse Liverpool of tapping up their star man Van Dijk.

That came after reports had suggested Van Dijk had chosen a move to Anfield over Chelsea and Manchester City.

Liverpool had been interested in making Van Dijk the world's most expensive defender in a £60million deal with Jurgen Klopp having guided them back to the Champions League.

But they have now pulled the plug and instead issued an apology to Southampton.

The statement read;
"Liverpool Football Club would like to put on record our regret over recent media speculation regarding Southampton Football Club and player transfers between the two clubs,"
"We apologise to the owner, board of directors and fans of Southampton for any misunderstanding regarding Virgil van Dijk.
"We respect Southampton's position and can confirm we have ended any interest in the player."
Jamie Carragher reacted furiously by tweeting:
 "FFS! Only person at Liverpool who should apologise is the person who fed the story he wanted to come to LFC when no fee had been agreed."
