The Nigerian Army has offered N3m reward to any Nigerian who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of a factional leader of the Boko Haram terrorists, Abubakar Shekau.
The army had said two days ago that Shekau fled the Sambisa Forest by disguising as a woman wearing hijab.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, in a statement, said, “the army will give out N3m cash reward for any credible information that leads to the arrest of Abubakar Shekau, the fugitive factional Boko Haram terrorist group leader. Anybody with such credible information can either contact the Military Command and Control Centre, Operation Lafiya Dole or any military location.”
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Kaduna State unveiled an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle produced locally by the Nigerian Air Force for surveillance purposes.
The UAV, which is capable of day and night operations, reportedly has endurance of 10 hours, a service ceiling of 15,000 feet and an electro-optic and infra-red camera system.
The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, said the inauguration of the Tsaigumi UAV would enhance the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capabilities of the air force.
Adesanya said, “The Tsaigumi UAV, which was produced by the NAF Aerospace Engineers in collaboration with UAVision of Portugal, would be used for ISR operations in land and sea domains.

“It could also be used for policing operations, disaster management, convoy protection, maritime patrol, pipeline and power line monitoring as well as mapping and border patrol duties.”
In his remarks at the induction, the President said, “This accomplishment holds promise of both military and economic benefits for the nation. From the military perspective, the added capacity for ISR provided by Tsaigumi UAV would undoubtedly boost ongoing and future security operations.”
