The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared that all those who looted the nation’s treasury must be made to face the long arm of the law. Acting chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu stated this in his Abuja office when he welcomed the leadership of the Print Media Publishers Guild (PMPG) which paid him a courtesy call.

A statement yesterday by the Guild’s national publicity secretary, Mr Sunny Davids said Magu reiterated that “Corruption has eaten deeply into the fabric of the Nigerian society and all hands must be on deck to ensure that we save our country from this scourge.” Magu also assured that “There shall be no sacred cows and the EFCC will not bow to any form of intimidation from any quarter.” “We are totally committed to this fight against corruption and by God’s grace we must succeed”, he said. According to Magu,  “We are excited and happy to work and partner with the Print Media Publishers Guild of Nigeria. We have taken time to monitor the activities of your Guild in the Media and we are convinced that your activities and reportage is carried out with utmost sense of responsibility and integrity.

We believe that your Guild is above board and cannot be compromised. This is why we are excited to work and partner with you”. The anti-corruption czar promised to help the Guildsucceed in the onerous task of sensitizing the citizenry on the ills and dangers of corruption. Earlier, national president of the Guild, Mr Oga Tom had pledged support and solidarity to the EFCC in its fight against corruption. Tom commended the current EFCC chairman for his efforts so far in the fight against corruption, which according to him, was unprecedented in the history of the nation.
